Liberals Challenge Waste Charges

Cllr Elaine Sims is organising a petition against the charges, introduced last May, for the collection of garden refuse and bulky items such as fridges and furniture

"As a consequence we have seen a dramatic increase in dumping across the whole of Huddersfield, this policy has been so short sighted and has aggravated Environmental problems.

Liberals launch Campaign for a referendum on the new EU Constitution in Huddersfield

On Saturday 27th September Liberal Party Chairman, Cllr Steve Radford and Huddersfield Liberal Party Cllr Elaine Sims collected hundreds of signatures calling for the Government to hold a referendum on the new EU Constitution and handed out leaflets and posters.

"the reaction of Yorkshire people was terrific, they are angry the Labour MP's are signing away our democratic rights behind our backs" commented Cllr Elaine Sims.

Many shoppers commented that they had seen the impact of the Euro on the continent had led directly to a hype in prices
